Module 1 – Introduction to Records Management and Archiving


One-day course: Thursday 18th June 2015

This course is aimed at information managers, records managers, archivists, archive assistants, document administrators or any staff undertaking records management/archiving responsibilities. Whilst the material may be of interest to staff in any sector of industry, this course is specifically aimed at staff working in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other GxP-regulated organisations.

Key content:

This course is part 1 of a 3-part comprehensive records management and archiving training programme. The module will provide an overview of the fundamental principles of records management and archiving, including framing the subject in the context of the life sciences regulatory GxP environment. This module covers:

  • What do we mean by ‘records management’?
  • Why is it important to manage records?
  • The legal and regulatory framework for archiving
  • Responsibility for records management and archiving
  • The records management lifecycle/continuum
  • The challenges to good practice
  • Benefits of adopting good practice

The training course commences at 09:30 am and will finish by 17:00 pm. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, including a light sandwich lunch. All delegates will receive an electronic copy of the presentation slides and a certificate of attendance.

The training course will be held at the Heathrow Premier Meeting Centre. This is located at the rear of the Heathrow Airport Premier Inn Hotel, 15 Bath Road, Hounslow, Middlesex, TW6 2AB.

If you are driving to the venue, please note that Bath Road is a dual-carriageway and the Meeting Centre/Hotel can only be accessed from the west-bound carriageway (i.e. driving towards Heathrow Airport). By public transport, there is a bus stop for buses 81, 105, 111 and 222 directly outside the hotel. The Airport Hoppa Service also services the meeting centre.

Accommodation is available at the adjacent Premier Inn (Londonn Heathrow Airport (Bath Road) Premier Inn). Rates from £94 / night.
